We would like permission to cut back our neighbours tree. We reside at no 21 Brotherston Drive the tree we would like cut back is at 23 Brotherston Drive. Our neighbours are in agreement to doing this as the tree also caused them issues in terms of drainage / damage and sunlight. I believe the property holder at no 25 Brotherston Drive would also like their tree to be cut back. When we moved in to our property in 2019 we were made aware the tree had a TPO - the grass in our garden was a mess and full of weeds and we were told this was possibly because of the tree. We have since spent ??5,000 on putting down artificial grass down and since weeds have started to grow through again, the company that put down our grass did explain this was likely because of the tree. The tree has obviously grown within the last 4 years and now blocks half the sunlight from out garden and also some from our fellow neighbours at no 19 whom are also in agreement to wanting the tree cut back. We now get so little sunlight that it affects my seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Along with the above issues we have a 22 month old little boy whom loves to play in the garden, however due to the debris that falls from the tree this is made more difficult than it should, bird faeces as well as leaves, twigs and berries are often left on our garden of which some may be dangerous and even poisonous to humans. We believe the tree is an ash tree. We have spoken to David Thornber from the Council and we will send pictures of the the tree/s as requested - we do not have a sketch. We would like to cut the tree back as recommended by yourselves, clearly we would like to cut as much back as possible so that the above issues are limited but ultimately we will be guided by yourself or the arborist on how much we are/aren't allowed to do. We do not wish to fell the tree/trees completely we just want to cut it back so as to stop the problems we and others are doing.
