T1 - Sweet Chestnut - The tree is located in the rear garden of 7 Glengariff Road on the east boundary. It has recently shed a relatively large limb that shows signs of decay in the heartwood. Although the lower half of the canopy of the tree seems healthy with good size leaf production, the upper half is under considerable stress. Two of the three main stems are dying off with the third one exhibiting signs of stress through excessive epicormic growth. I am proposing a 50% reduction which would essentially be a pollard of the three main stems down to where the lower canopy is healthy. This would remove the potential risk of the dying stems breaking out and will promote more growth lower down whilst still retaining the amenity value of the tree.
