Application for works to reduce in height and crown lift a large horse chestnut tree identified as T1 of Gedney Tree Preservation Order No 6 2006. The tree is located in the north western corner of the front garden of the property known as 'The Chestnuts', Church End, Gedney. The tree was inspected by a qualified arboriculturalist on 19th April 2014. It was found that the tree 'is in a reasonable condition for its size and age'. The arboriculturalist recommended the following works: a. 'Due to a number of compression forks and included bark', 'the tree be reduced by 5m to give an overall finished height of 18m. This would reduce the leverage on the forks' x6 'and possible crack over the road and power line','but still keep the tree tall enough for it to retain its commanding position over the village'. The tree to be pruned to 'keep a flowing line', Please see a copy of the annotated photograph included with the application. b.'Laterals to the west at 2m overhang neighbouring property, and hang down within 3m of the ground.' 'Lift smaller branches <5cm diameter, to give a clear height of 5m'. C.'small laterals to the north and north east at 2-3 metres grow into the road. Now causing an issue for larger vehicles' 'Take small diameter laterals, <5cm back to branch collar'.
