The village is part of the civil parish of Warsop in Mansfield District, which includes the settlements of Market Warsop, Church Warsop, Warsop Vale, Meden Vale, Sookholme and Spion Kop. At the 2021 census the population of the parish was 12,644 residents. The area lies on the outskirts of the remnants of Sherwood Forest, providing a rural environment within reach of the larger town of Mansfield and the city of Nottingham.
