Escot Park is situated in the parish of Talaton, close to the town of Ottery St. Mary in Devon. The estate’s main house, known as Escot House, is a Grade II listed building constructed in 1837 by Sir John Kennaway, 3rd Baronet, to the design of Henry Roberts. The house replaced an earlier residence that had been built around 1680 by Sir Walter Yonge, 3rd Baronet, whose design was credited to Robert Hooke. The earlier house suffered a fire in 1808 and was subsequently replaced. Today, Escot House remains the home of the Kennaway baronets. The estate’s history and architecture reflect the heritage of the region, and its proximity to Ottery St. Mary places it within a rural setting that balances historic character with access to local amenities.
