To clear fell all the trees in and around an area indicated within a red line. All stumps are to be grubbed out. The trees comprise of approximately 35 stems, of which 30 are Common Ash. All of the Ash are exhibiting signs of ash die-back, with some of the larger specimens in serious decline, shedding large limbs. Almost all of the trees were planted on top of concrete slabs and foundations from the site of the former RAF Poulton (which ceased operation in 1946) and the majority are unstable as a result. Several have fallen in recent months due to strong winds and it is clear that the rest will also fall. Removal will give the house owner the opportunity to break out and remove the concrete slabs and to replant with a wider range of species (including native species) with a reasonable chance of successful establishment. A replacement planting plan is in preparation.
