The attached plan shows the location of the tree I am applying to remove. The trees are shown on the plan as being in the garden of the property next door. The client believes that these trees are the joint responsibility of both properties. Tree B although protected by TPO was permitted for removal on application of the neighbour to make way for his extension. My clients were not made aware of the application and the tree was removed. For your records tree B is no longer present in this location but still appears on your system. The picture montage included in this application outlines the issues my client has with the tree and their concerns about its suitability and longevity in this location. The customer is concerned with the tree being too close to the property. The stem is 4.6m away from the house. The crown spread is 9.3m. The tree has surface roots of more than 2" in diameter that are visible on the surface at more than 3.5m away from the stem. The blue arrow on the image below shows the thick surface root which is without doubt from tree A. In the photo montage I have supplied images of cracks to the boundary wall and cracks to the tarmac drive which span more than 3.4 meters from the stem. The trees diameter at breast height is 48cm. The client has done their own research into the life expectancy of the species and is concerned that the tree is mature and out of context with its location. It is causing visible cracks to the driveway and I have to agree, is growing very close to the property. I understand their concern. I would like to request a visit from the tree officer to inspect tree A and if it cannot be authorised for removal, advise my clients what they can do for peace of mind and to protect their property moving forward.
