- Nov 2016Tree WorksTreesOutcome in report
1. Horse Chestnut (T232) - reduce crown height and spread by 1.2 - 1.5m to maintain a balanced shape. To maintain the health of the tree - crown clean to remove weak and dead branches; crown thin by 5-10% to improve light and air penetration through the canopy. As this tree is also seriously infested by Leaf Miner and we will follow the recommended health care programme and carry out a 2-stage foliar spray in Spring 2017.2. Lime (part of G90) - reduce crown height and spread by 1.2 - 1.5m to maintain a balanced shape. To maintain the health of the tree - crown clean to remove weak and dead branches; crown thin by 5-10% to improve light and air penetration through the canopy.3. Corsican Pine (part of G90) - having given careful consideration to the advice given we are applying to cut down and remove this tree. This is a very substantial tree approx. 28m high. It is only 5.3m from our garage, 15.5m from our house and 5m from Purdis Farm Lane - to the rear of the property (see sketch Ref2). Although there is no specific evidence that the tree is in a poor condition, we feel it poses a significant risk to ourselves, our property and users of Purdis Farm Lane. In addition, when talking to the arboriculturist he pointed out that the recent removal of other similar, large trees in this group has increased the exposure of the tree to the prevailing wind, from which it was previously protected, and that as the roots have developed with the others in this group, the root system will have been adversely affected, thus increasing the risk of falling in very windy conditions. As it is inappropriate to reduce the height of a Corsican Pine we are seeking approval to remove this tree.
