Hackney, London is a district in East London, England. It forms around two‑thirds of the area of the modern London Borough of Hackney, to which it gives its name. The district lies roughly four miles (six and a half kilometres) northeast of Charing Cross and includes part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Historically, Hackney was within the county of Middlesex. The area is characterised by its urban setting and close proximity to central London, offering a mix of residential and cultural spaces within the borough.
