Wrightington is a civil parish in West Lancashire, England, covering an area of 3,915½ acres. The surface is hilly, rising to over 400 ft. at Harrock. The locality is served by the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which provides healthcare services in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan and Wrightington. The trust was formed on 1 April 2001 by the merger of Wrightington Hospital NHS Trust and Wigan and Leigh Health Services NHS Trust, and became an NHS Foundation Trust in December 2008. The name “Teaching Hospitals” has been included in its title since 1 April 2020.
