- Jul 2022Tree WorksTreesIn report
T1 - Lime. Crown reduce by a maximum of 3m, maximum diameter of cut 80mm. Reason for Works: Following two branch failures on the southern side of the tree, one of which required repairs to the roof of the house below, an inspection of the tree highlighted that some of the attachment points of the extended lateral limbs feature bark formations consistent with structurally compromised unions. In addition to this, the main union at crown break, approximately 1.5-2m above ground level, features potential weak points with compression forks forming between the co-dominant stems arising from this union. Due to the proximity of the house and the repairs required following the recent structural failures, a crown reduction of approximately 15% is considered appropriate arboricultural management of this tree. Mr & Mrs Cinque understand that this will be ongoing management, likely to be cyclical, requiring further assessment potentially every 5-8 years depending on the tree???s response to pruning. These works will have a negligible detrimental impact on the visual amenity value of the local landscape, both by virtue of the limited views of the tree from any public locations, and the inherent tolerance of Lime, both visually and physiologicaly, to sympathetic pruning. Following the recent refusal of an application a QTRA assessment was carried out by Advanced Arboriculture, and assuming a Target Value of 2 and a Probability of Failure of 4, the Risk of Harm is 1/30,000. Therefore, management of the tree is recommended as the target is unmovable and unrealistic to manage.
