Cressbrook is a locality in the English Peak District that forms part of the Monsal Trail, a former railway line now used for cycling, horse riding and walking. The trail runs about 8.5 miles (13.7 km) through the valley of the River Wye and passes through several villages including Blackwell Mill, Chee Dale, Millers Dale, Cressbrook, Monsal Dale, Great Longstone, Hassop and Bakewell. Along the route visitors encounter historic landmarks such as Headstone Viaduct, Cressbrook Mill, Litton Mill and Hassop railway station, and the trail features six tunnels. The trail’s history dates back to the Midland Railway’s construction in 1863 and its conversion from a railway to a leisure path opened in 1981. The surrounding area offers a peaceful rural environment with easy access to the scenic paths of the Peak District.
