Tree preservation Order application: Tree 1 to front of property - This Lime tree has been regularly pollarded in the past with the last occasion in 2014 (TA/0048/14) and has since grown substantially. I would like to pollard back to the previous pruning point (in 2014) so that growth since then is removed and no new large pruning wounds would be created. I would also request permission to re-pollard to this point every 3 to 5 years. Tree 2 to rear of property - This Lime tree (T28 of TPO 19 1976) has been regularly pollarded in the past but in recent years to a higher level, rather than the original pollarding point of 2.5m from ground level. The last pollarding was in 2014 (TA/0048/14) and it has since grown substantially. I would request permission to pollard the tree to a point between 2.5m (the original pollarding point) and 8m (the pollarding point in 2014). This flexibility will facilitate discussion with the tree surgeon, I engage to carry out the work, regarding the long term health of the tree and where to carry out the pollarding. It is worth noting that Lime trees T25, T26 and T27 in the same 'line' as T28 (my tree) are in my neighbours garden and are subject to the same 1976 TPO. These were pollarded to the original pollard points of around 2.5m above ground in 2014 TA/0049/14. If my request is granted the tree in my garden will appear the same as the other 3 trees in the line of 4. In respect of both trees I would request permission to remove epicormic growth from the main stem and the base of the trees on an annual basis.
