Studham is a village and civil parish in Bedfordshire with a population of 1,182. The parish lies to the south of Buckinghamshire. The Priory Church of St Peter, founded in 1132 by Henry I for Augustinian canons, is a key historic landmark. Today the church consists of the nave of what was once a larger Augustinian priory. The original monastic complex included a dormitory, infirmary, stables, workshops, bakehouse, brewhouse and buttery, as well as a hostel for pilgrims and travellers – the remains of which are known today as Priory House. Opposite the priory stood one of Henry I’s royal palaces, known as Kingsbury. The village’s setting within the Bedfordshire countryside provides a rural character, and its postal district LU 6 places it within the Dunstable area.
