- Mar 2026Tree WorksTreesIn report
Tree Preservation Order EL:230 - T1 - English Oak - Lateral crown reduction by up to 2 metres to suitable growth points - Remove major deadwood throughout whole crown area (Deadwood > 25mm in diameter ) The proposed works are recommended on arboricultural and safety grounds. Approximately two years ago, a large structural limb failure occurred within the crown of T1 (English oak). This failure has altered the tree???s crown form and load distribution, leaving the remaining crown unbalanced and subject to increased structural stress, particularly during periods of high wind. A recent arboricultural inspection and accompanying tree report (attached) have identified that several remaining lateral limbs are now over-extended, increasing the risk of further failure. To mitigate this risk and improve the long-term structural stability of the tree, a lateral crown reduction of up to 2 metres is proposed to suitable growth points, with an overall crown reduction not exceeding 1.5 metres where appropriate. In addition, major deadwood (>25mm in diameter) is present throughout the crown and will be removed to reduce the risk of falling material. All pruning will be carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations, with a maximum pruning wound diameter of 50mm, ensuring the works are proportionate, sympathetic to the tree's form, and aimed at retaining the tree in a safe and sustainable condition. The proposed works represent a balanced approach that addresses safety concerns from neighbours while preserving the tree's health, structure, and amenity value.
