It lies just off the A62 Leeds Road, west of the River Colne and the Huddersfield Broad Canal, and is positioned north of Deighton and east of Brackenhall. The area hosts two primary schools, a secondary school – All Saints’ Catholic College – and three churches, one Catholic, one Protestant and a former church building now used as a gymnasium, though its burial ground remains in use. All Saints’ Catholic College, which was previously All Saints’ Catholic High School, was built in 1960 and, after a merger in 1973, became the current large high school. The district’s proximity to the canal and river provides a green corridor, while its location on a major road offers convenient access to the wider Huddersfield area. Residents benefit from local educational facilities and a mix of historic and contemporary community spaces.
