TREES AND HEDGES (1): THE TREES ON THE HEDGE DIRECTLY BEHIND US ARE A BEECH, HOLLY AND ASH, GOING IN THE DIRECTION OF NUMBER 10, US AND THEN THE LAST HOUSE IN THE TERRACE NUMBER 12. THE BEECH AND THE ASH ARE MANY FEET HIGHER THAN THE HOUSES WHICH IS A CONCERN IF THERE ARE VERY HIGH WINDS. THE BEECH AND ASH OVERHANG THE BACK DECKING OF THE HOUSE. THE ASH IS NOW ONLY A METRE AWAY AND THE BEECH BRANCHES TWO METRES FROM THE BACK WALL OF THE HOUSE. THE PROBLEMS THESE TREES CAUSE ARE LACK OF LIGHT, DAMP, COLD AND AT THIS TIME OF YEAR, LEAF FALL. I ALSO NOTICED THIS YEAR THAT MY GUTTERS ARE FULL OF TREE DEBRIS, I CONTACTED NORTH DEVON HOMES WHO TOLD ME THAT IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO CLEAR THEM. THIS IS A FURTHER COSTLY AND DIFFICULT JOB THAT WILL HAVE TO BE UNDERTAKEN TO PROTECT MY SHARED EQUITY PROPERTY. I DO NOT KNOW THE CONDITION OF THE TREES THEMSELVES BUT IF THEY EVER CAME DOWN OUR SIDE FOR ANY REASON THE DAMAGE CAUSED WOULD BE SERIOUS. I DO NOT THINK THAT THE TREES NEED TO BE TAKEN DOWN BUT UPRIGHTED TO REMOVE THE BRANCHES THAT OVERHANG OUR PROPERTY. I HAVE HAD A GREAT DEAL OF HELP FROM THE NDC WITH THEIR INFORMATION PROVIDED BUT I DO NOT KNOW IF I HAVE GIVEN YOU ENOUGH INFORMATION. I HAVE NOT CONSULTED A TREE SURGEON AT THIS POINT AS I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD GET THIS MATTER SORTED OUT FIRST. DUE TO THE HEIGHT OF THE TREES IT WILL NOT BE A SIMPLE JOB AND THE POTENTIAL COST OF THE WORK IS A SERIOUS CONCERN FOR ME.
