Outline: A proposal for a barn to be built on an agricultural field for the purpose of housing agricultural machinery and safe shelter for sheep during the lambing season. Detail: The land (1.9 hectares) has two small stables, in disrepair, and a lean to shelter which is inadequate for the smallholding farming requirements. A proposal is being made to erect a steel structure building for the purpose of agricultural activity. The barn will be of minimal height and silhouette and is not skyline in anyway. Sympathetic dark green cladding will be used in the first instance and then later clad with wood when more funds are available. At present the field has a flock of 10 sheep and it is the intention to grow the clock to approximately 30, thereafter maintaining a regular turnover of livestock. To do this, a shelter is required for the ewes and lambs during lambing season. This will protect them from magpies and foxes, all of which are prevalent in the adjacent fields. Currently the machinery used to work the land is open to the elements and cannot be worked for repair or maintenance. For the reasons outlined above an application for this field barn is being made.
