I wish for work to be done on two trees in my garden: (1) Cut down and remove Tree 1, a large overgrown Leylandii (including the stump). In its place I plan to plant a mulberry tree and other bushes and shrubs that are attractive to birds and pollinators. (2) Reduce the height of Tree 2, a maple tree, by around 3 metres. This tree had its crown reduced by about 1.5-2 metres at the end of 2023 (less than 2 years ago) but it quickly regained the lost height and has now become too tall and thin. Note that when I moved to Dormers cottage around 5 years ago, the garden was very overgrown with very tall connifers. I have applied for several of these to be felled or have their height reduced over the years (several previous appliocations) and I believe this has greatly improved the garden. I think Tree 1 in this application will be the last tree that needs to be removed. Hereafter, it should be routine maintenance only. Please note that as promised in previous applications, I have replaced the trees I removed with a variety of fruit trees and bushes (damsone, crab apple, red currant, blackcurrant, raspberry, gooseberry, cherry) as well as other shrubs (hydrangea, jasmine, blackthorn, philadelphus etc). With better light in the garden, I have also dug a large pond (approx 4 x 2.5 m), intended to encourage wildlife (so, no fish). My intention is to keep adding to the garden shrubs and plants (preferably native UK species) selecting where I can those most attractive to birds and pollinators. I have had a provisional (verbal) quote from a tree surgeon to do this new work
