    T1 - Beech - Fell. The tree has been in decline for a number of years. Each Autumn a proliferation of fungal fruiting bodies ( Meripilus giganteus) are visible at ground level close to the trunk (old fruiting bodies visible Photo Feb 2020). Pictures June 2020 show the canopy becoming sparse and the vitality in decline. This fungus decays roots structures causing a soft white rot typically increasing the incidence of uprooting.
