Cynonville, Port Talbot, SA13 3HL

Cynonville is a locality within Port Talbot, a town and community in the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, Wales. The town lies on the east side of Swansea Bay, approximately eight miles from Swansea. The Port Talbot Steelworks occupies a large area of land and dominates the south east of the town. It is the largest steelworks in the United Kingdom and one of the largest in the world, although it has faced threat of closure since the 1980s. In 2021 the population of Port Talbot was 31,550, which is about a fifth of the 141,931 population of Neath Port Talbot. The locality’s character is shaped by its industrial heritage and its proximity to the coast.
