1. Apple Tree - cut to the existing hedge level. We have a very old apple tree in our garden that was poorly cared for by the previous owner so that the canopy is so tall that it is not possible to pick any apples from it. Instead, each summer, when the apples come they rot on the branches and fall on to our garden and our neighbour's garden. This attracts large numbers of wasps, flies and hornets which are a nuisance and pose a health risk to our families. I suffer from inflammatory arthritis and it is not practical for me to pick up falling apples on a daily basis. The tree itself is also unsightly given that it has been badly maintained. Despite removal of ivy it continues to grow and wrap around the trunk. The tree is very old and is weakening. We have been advised by an arborist that the apple tree should be cut to the existing hedge level.
