This relates to a silver birch tree that is approx 12m in height. The tree is bifurcated with the vertical trunk showing clear signs of birch bracket fungus (see photos) at approx 9m high. The crown has broken away during recent storms together with a number of other large branches, The other trunk is leaning dangerously over my neighbours property at an estimated angle of approx. 25 degrees. My neighbour and I are both of the view that the tree is leaning further since the recent storms, and would like to have it removed ASAP. We are concerned that further heavy branches will fall causing damage to property or individuals or worse, that the whole tree topples. We have engaged Redwood Tree Services to remove the tree however are frustrated and concerned that we need to submit an application despite having an expert person engaging with the Tree Officer. This is especially the case as I had contacted SHBC about two smaller dead trees at the front of my property a number of months ago, but have had no response. One of those trees did fall over in the storms and fortunately caused only minor damage.
