The locality is most famous for its connection to the original Branston Pickle, a sweet pickle first produced in 1922 by Crosse & Blackwell in the village of Branston. The factory was later moved to a subsidiary in Bermondsey, London, where new buildings were erected in 1924 and 1926 and remained in use until 1969. Today the name remains associated with the food brand, reflecting the village’s heritage. The area retains its parish identity within the larger town of Burton upon Trent, offering a small‑town feel while being part of a larger urban setting.
