Cairnbulg is one of the three villages that historically formed the fishing community of Brandesburgh, Cairnbulg and Inverallochy in North East Scotland. It lies approximately four miles (6.4 km) east of the town of Fraserburgh, which is locally known as the Broch. The area is part of Aberdeenshire and falls within the AB 43 postal district. Although the former village of Brandesburgh has disappeared, Cairnbulg remains a distinct settlement with a modest population.
