Killiow, Truro, TR3 6AF

Killiow is one of several settlements that make up the parish of Kenwyn in Cornwall. The parish also includes Calenick, Come‑to‑Good, Nansavallan, Playing Place, Porth Kea and the tiny hamlet of Quenchwell. The area is part of the broader Truro postal district TR 3. The right to choose high sheriffs each year is vested in the Duchy of Cornwall, and the Privy Council, chaired by the sovereign, chooses the sheriffs of all other English counties, except those in the Duchy of Lancaster. This right originated from the Earldom of Cornwall. During the times of Earls Richard and Edmund, the steward or seneschal of Cornwall was often also the sheriff. The settlement of Killiow lies within this historic and administrative context, reflecting the traditional governance structure of the region.
