Keyhaven, Pennington, Oxey and Normandy Marshes is a haven outpost of Milford-on-Sea, with Keyhaven itself to the west, the village of Pennington to the north, and the town of Lymington to the northeast. The area is dominated by the Lymington and Keyhaven Marshes, a 738‑hectare (1,820‑acre) nature reserve that stretches along the south coast across the Lymington River in Hampshire. Managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, it forms part of the Solent and Southampton Water Ramsar site and Special Protection Area. Two of its areas are also Special Areas of Conservation – Solent and Isle of Wight Lagoons and Solent Maritime – and it lies within the Hurst Castle and Lymington River Estuary Site of Special Scientific Interest. The marshes are recognised as a North Solent Marshes Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2, and include two Geological Conservation Review sites and two Local Nature Reserves, Boldre Foreshore and Lymington‑Keyhaven Marshes. The locality’s setting within this protected wetland environment gives it a distinctive character as a quiet, nature‑focused coastal community within the SO 41 postal district.
