THE LIVING ROOM HAD OBVIOUSLY BEEN ALTERED PREVIOUSLY WITH ONE HALF OF THE ROOM AT A LOWER LEVEL THAN THE HALF WITH A FLAGSTONE FLOOR. THE LOWER FLOOR WAS MADE OF A CONCRETE/ CEMENT BASE. AFTER CONSULTATION WITH TY MAWR LIME AND SPAB ADVICE WAS TAKEN TO REPLACE WITH A BREATHABLE FLOOR CONSTRUCTION TO ENSURE PRESERVATION OF THE HISTORIC LIME PLASTERED WALLS, AND CEILINGS WHICH HAVE BEEN CONSERVED AND NOT TOUCHED. THE LIME (100MM) AND GLAPOR (100MM) FLOOR WAS PLACED ON A BREATHABLE MEMBRANE AND FLAGSTONES OBTAINED FROM THE GARDEN WERE PLACED ON TOP TO MATCH THE OTHER HALF OF THE ROOM. THE CHIMNEY BREASTS WERE BOTH REPOINTED WITH A LIME BASED MORTAR
