Garnant is a village in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It lies in the valley of the River Amman, north of Swansea. The village grew during the 19th and early 20th centuries as a coal‑mining community, with the last major colliery closing in 1936. Since then coal extraction has continued fitfully. Garnant is notable for having the only Commissioners’ church built in southwest Wales, reflecting its traditional Methodist heritage.
