Chilgrove is a hamlet in the civil parish of West Dean, West Sussex, England. The parish covers 6,136 acres (2,483 ha) and includes other hamlets such as Binderton. West Dean lies west of Singleton and is part of the Chichester district, whose county town is the historic city of Chichester. Chichester is a cathedral city and civil parish, the only city in West Sussex and its county town. It has a Roman and Anglo‑Saxon heritage and has been a major market town from Norman and medieval times to the present day. The city is the seat of the Church of England Diocese of Chichester and houses a 12th‑century cathedral.
