Tree 1, Ash. Sectional fell to ground level. The central lead stem of the tree has died back, with complete lack of leaf this season. There is significant decay and a large open wound to roughly 5ft from the floor at the base of the tree exposing rotting heart wood. This decay reaches up to the dead lead and at some point will start to affect the remaining two thirds of the crown. This live portion of the tree is growing at a shallow angle directly over a large garage and towards the neighbouring property. Should the tree fail, both structures will be damaged. The way the tree has grown, competing in close proximity with a large mature 9m Bay tree (to remain with no works, 'a' on site plot) and the internal decay lead to a request for removal rather than structural pollard. Tree 2, Holly. Reduce height by 10m to ground level (coppice). The tree has a weak growing, sparse crown and is, from the floor, a multi stem specimen with approx' 6 leads. We propose bringing the height of the tree back to just above the ground, shaping but leaving the extant lower sucker growth. The new shoots from the stump to grow with the suckers to form a shrub.
