Urquhart (/ˈɜːrkərt/ UR‑kərt; Scottish Gaelic: Urchard) is a small village in Moray, Scotland, situated about 5 miles (8 km) east of Elgin. The village is associated with the historic Urquhart clan, which dates back to the 13th century and is linked to the area of Cromarty. There are two parishes in Scotland named Urquhart, one in Elgin and another on the Black Isle. The name is also shared by the famous Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness, which derives from the old barony of Urquhart.
