Parkend is a village situated at the foot of the Cannop Valley within the Royal Forest of Dean in West Gloucestershire, England. The area’s history dates back to the early 19th century when the Severn and Wye Railway began as a tramroad network designed to move minerals from the Forest of Dean to nearby watercourses. A small harbour was constructed at Lydney, and the railway line was extended to Parkend in 1810, linking the village to the broader transport network.
