Currently we only use half of the second floor and we would like to make it all habitable. We feel the structure can only benefit, rather than remain unused and deteriorate further. We would really like permission to install a second bathroom as we are a family of five and the house having six bedrooms, quite simply one bathroom is not sufficient especially when family or guests stay. The room where we would like the new bathroom, is a large room the full width of the house. Ideal so not loosing a bedroom and be close to the existing septic tank for services.Repair an interior wall which is currently brick infill between timber beams. These have become loose and unsafe. We would like to replace the heavy brick with light weight panels, as advised by Dr Paul Collins who has visited the house. (Wall D)We would also like to reinstate a door currently bricked up to give the original access into the bedroom if allowed to install the new shower room. (Wall D)These alterations will enable us to complete the upstairs of the property making it finally habitable, which it hasn't been for many years. Then extend the heating, insulate where possible and finally decorate and refurbish. We have started to clear the area, which has been used for storage and junk in the past. One of the ceilings was unsafe, after partial collapse which we have taken down. We have also erected an internal stud wall which helps to support the old ceiling rafters which is why I answered yes to work already beginning. However we have not started work on areas which we are requesting planning permission. We sort advise from Mrs Nina Ward the Land Agent, to take a look and help us, who informed us we would need planning, before going any further, together with Dr Paul Collins. This has now been on hold since the end of 2014, so have finally allocated time to start the ball rolling!. It is a beautiful house and would love to see this part of the house looking happy again.
