Skea is situated in the town of Enniskillen, which is the largest town in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Enniskillen sits in the middle of the county, between the Upper and Lower sections of Lough Erne, and had a population of 14,086 at the 2011 census. The town’s history dates back to the 15th century with the construction of Enniskillen Castle, originally a stronghold of the Maguires and later brought under English control in the early 17th century. The castle and town expanded during the Plantation of Ulster, and the town served as the seat of local government for the former Fermanagh District Council and is the county town of Fermanagh. Skea is part of the civil parish of Enniskillen, sharing its heritage and community infrastructure.
