Fawley lies within the Southampton Water estuary, a tidal body of water north of the Solent and the Isle of Wight. The village sits on the salt‑marsh fringed western shores of the estuary, alongside the neighbouring villages of Dibden and Hythe. The Fawley Refinery is a prominent feature of the local landscape, reflecting the area’s industrial heritage. On the slightly steeper eastern shore of the estuary are the Southampton suburb of Weston and the villages of Netley and Hamble‑le‑Rice, as well as the Royal Victoria Country Park.
