The marshes are recognised as a North Solent Marshes Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2, and include two Geological Conservation Review sites and two Local Nature Reserves, Boldre Foreshore and Lymington‑Keyhaven Marshes. The locality’s setting within this protected wetland environment gives it a distinctive character as a quiet, nature‑focused coastal community within the SO 41 postal district.
