Monkwood is a hamlet in Hampshire, England. It lies in the south of Ropley parish and is currently spread between Petersfield Road and Hill Farm Road. Historically, the settlement was centred on the south side of Smugglers Lane and included the 15th‑century Smugglers, the 16th‑century The Old Farmhouse and an 18th‑century cottage situated between the two. The more recent development between Petersfield Road and Hill Farm Lane dates from around the late 1800s and originally consisted of only two settlements: Hill Farm and Ropley Common Farm, as shown on the 1870s OS Map. The area retains its rural character and historic buildings, reflecting its long history within the parish of Ropley.
