This property is located in Duffryn Rhondda, a neighbourhood of Port Talbot in the SA 13 postal district, near the River Afan and the Port of Port Talbot.
Duffryn Rhondda is part of the industrial town of Port Talbot, situated on the River Afan estuary. The area is adjacent to the Port of Port Talbot, which was developed in the late 19th century to facilitate the transport of minerals, especially coal, to the harbour. The railway and docks company that operated the port was established in 1894, and the main line opened in 1897, connecting to the Great Western Railway Garw Valley line the following year. Passenger service began in 1898, though it was not a primary focus of the company. The area also features the Ogmore Valleys Extension line, opened in 1898, which ran from Margam Junction towards Tondu. The locality’s proximity to the port and the steelworks places it within a historically industrial setting along the River Afan estuary.
