Bryn, Port Talbot, SA13 2SA

Bryn (Welsh for ‘hill’) is a village and community in Neath Port Talbot County Borough in Wales, with a population of 913. The village lies in the hills between Cwmafan, in the Afan Valley, and Maesteg in the Llynfi Valley, approximately 6 mi (9.7 km) from Port Talbot and 2 mi (3.2 km) from Maesteg. The name of the village, now familiarly Bryn, was formerly Bryn‑troed‑y‑garn, a name that appears on the 1876 OS map where a farm was situated above Meadow Row. The first vicar of St Theodore's in Port Talbot noted the settlement’s name. Twelve per cent of the village’s residents speak Welsh. The village’s rural character and proximity to larger towns provide a quiet, community-oriented setting.
