The Docks, Port Talbot, SA13 1RB

The Docks is a locality within the town of Port Talbot, situated in the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, Wales. Port Talbot lies on the east side of Swansea Bay, approximately eight miles from the city of Swansea. The town is dominated by the Port Talbot Steelworks, which covers a large area of land in the south‑east of the town and is the largest steelworks in the United Kingdom and one of the largest in the world. The steelworks has faced potential closure since the 1980s, and the town’s economy is closely linked to the industry. In 2021 the population of Port Talbot was 31,550, making up about a fifth of the 141,931 residents of Neath Port Talbot. The Docks area shares the town’s character and proximity to the bay, and residents benefit from the community’s industrial heritage and coastal setting.
