Elsted railway station served the village of Elsted in the county of West Sussex in England. The village is part of the Midhurst area, which was served by the Midhurst Railways – three branch lines built to serve the market town of Midhurst. These lines included the Petersfield Railway from Petersfield, the Mid‑Sussex Railway extended by the Mid‑Sussex and Midhurst Junction Railway from Hardham Junction (Pulborough), and a line from Chichester. The Petersfield Railway opened in 1864 after the promoting company was absorbed by the London and South Western Railway in 1863. The Mid‑Sussex lines reached Midhurst in 1866, following absorption by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway in 1862. The two lines did not connect, resulting in two separate stations close together. The Chichester line was completed later, opening in 1881, when a new LBSCR station replaced the first. In 1925 the former LSWR line was connected to that station.
