Alverton is situated within the civil parish and port town of Penzance in Cornwall, England. Penzance lies 64 miles west‑southwest of Plymouth and 255 miles west‑southwest of London, and is 9 miles east of Land’s End. The town is the terminus of the Cornish Main Line and is both the southernmost and westernmost railway station in England. Surrounded by Mount’s Bay, Penzance faces south‑east onto the English Channel. The parish includes the fishing port of Newlyn and the villages of Mousehole, Paul, Gulval and Heamoor. According to the 2021 census, the population of the parish was 20,734, with 14,960 residents in the built‑up area of Penzance.
