Kilworthy is a locality within Tavistock, a town situated in the West Devon district of Devon, England. Tavistock is an ancient stannary and market town and civil parish, historically linked to the stannary system of tin mining. The town lies on the River Tavy, from which its name derives. Its recorded history dates back to at least 961 when Tavistock Abbey, whose ruins lie in the centre of the town, was founded. In the 2011 census, the three electoral wards of Tavistock had a combined population of 13,028.
