Rennington, formerly a township and chapelry in the parish of Embleton, became part of the Alnwick district from 1974 until 2009. The area is situated on the North Sea coast, with Embleton Bay lying to the east of the village of Embleton. The bay is popular for paddling and is overlooked by the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, a notable medieval fortress. Nearby is the Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club, offering recreational facilities.
