Steinish, Isle Of Lewis, HS2 0AA

Steinish is a village in the Scottish Outer Hebrides, on the Isle of Lewis, near Plasterfield and Stornoway Airport. The village is situated within the parish of Stornoway and is also adjacent to the Laxdale estuary. In 1876 a treasure trove was discovered in Steinish, containing coins from the era of Francis and Mary, Mary, and James VI. The area is part of the postal district HS 2. The nearest major road junction is the meeting point of the A857 and A858 at the southern end of Barvas, a civil parish on the Isle of Lewis. Residents benefit from proximity to the airport and the estuary, and the local history is highlighted by the 19th‑century coin find.
