Whitstone, a locality within the EX 22 postal district, is situated near the historic Dunsland Cross railway station. The station, once part of the Bude Branch, was located 6 miles east of the village, now the town of Holsworthy. It opened in 1879 by the London and South Western Railway (LSWR) when the line was extended from Holsworthy station to the new terminus at Bude.
