This property is located in Shute, a quiet village near Axminster in the county of Devon, where the landscape is dominated by pastoral countryside and historic buildings.
Shute is a village in East Devon, situated near Axminster. The locality is known for Old Shute House, a medieval manor house with Tudor additions that remains in the ownership of the National Trust. The house was originally built around 1380 as a hall house and was expanded in the late 16th century; part of it was demolished in 1785. The original 14th‑century structure survives, although it has been altered over the centuries. The property was given a Grade I listing on 14 December 1955 and is considered one of the most important non‑fortified manor houses of the Middle Ages still in existence. The village’s proximity to Axminster places it within reach of local amenities while retaining a rural character.
