The highest point in the parish reaches 214 m (702 ft), where the South Downs Way crosses the crest of Plumpton Plain. The village of Plumpton Green, which houses most of the community and services, is the larger settlement within the parish. Plumpton is known for its racecourse and for Plumpton College, which farms over 2,500 acres (1,000 ha) and is a leading centre for land‑based education in the UK.
