West Bradley is a village and civil parish situated 4 miles south‑east of Glastonbury in Somerset, England. The parish encompasses the hamlets of Hornblotton and Lottisham. The area is part of the historic Glaston Twelve Hides, one of the 40 historical Hundreds in Somerset dating from before the Norman conquest during the Anglo‑Saxon era. Each hundred had a local defence force and a court responsible for maintaining the frankpledge system, collecting taxes, and administering local law. The hundred court’s role was described in the laws of King Edgar. The name of the hundred was normally that of its meeting‑place, indicating a long tradition of local governance and community identity in this rural setting.
